REVIEW | NEW 2016 Laneige BB Cushion Anti-Aging #21 SPF 50+ PA+++
January 16, 2017Laneige has recently released the renewed version of their Anti-Aging Cushion! Earlier in 2016 they came out with renewal versions for only the Whitening and Pore Control Cushions (3rd generation). I was actually going to buy the Whitening one, but when I saw that this one came out, I changed my mind. I haven’t seen many reviews on this cushion, maybe because it’s still quite new, but some Korean youtubers that I watch really like this, and it looked very pretty on the skin, so I wanted to give it a try too!
This cushion retails for 40,000 KRW, but I got it for $26 when it was on sale at cosmetic-love. It contains 15g of product and a refill. On Laneige’s website, they present 12 different shades, 11, 11c, 13, 13c, 21, 21c, 23, 23c, 31, 33, 35, and 37. The “c” marks a cool toned shade. I got mine in shade #21. The 3rd generation of Laneige BB Cushions has embossing on the cushion sponge, which is supposed to help with an even application on the air puff. This cushion is marketed as the winter cushion amongst the 3 Laneige BB Cushions, which is suitable for my dry skin. It also contains Dynamic Collagen_EX, which is the key ingredient in Laneige’s Time Freeze skincare line. And like most other cushions, it has SPF 50+ and PA+++.

Wow... The box is so pretty |
I’m totally IN LOVE with the sparkling rose gold packaging! It’s reflective too, so it’s like a shiny mirror. ^-^ It’s so pretty and makes me feel like royalty or something. Circumference wise, this cushion is noticeably smaller than other cushions. I’ve noticed many companies are starting to slim down and minimize cushion packaging, which is a good thing! But because the casing is smaller, the mirror and air puff are smaller too, which can be a downside. I personally don’t use the cushion mirrors for applying bb cushions, but use them occasionally for checking makeup from time to time (or if I have food stuck in my teeth). For me, a smaller air puff isn’t much of a problem, but I do prefer the regular sized ones.
Scent
It smells similar to an Etude House cushion, but also kind of smells like Laneige skincare? It’s not a strong smell, I had to stick my nose right next to the cushion to smell it. But if you are allergic or sensitive to fragrances, I recommend you avoid this cushion.
I was expecting this cushion to have very high coverage as this cushion has the highest coverage of all the Laneige cushions, but I’m not disappointed. It has a medium-high coverage, which is more than enough for me. It covers small blemishes, scars, and pigmentation, but probably won’t help much in covering active pimples.
Texture & Finish
The texture of the cushion is pretty light, especially compared to Innisfree’s Water Glow Cushion and April Skin’s Magic Snow Cushion 2.0. It’s very comfortable to wear and doesn’t feel heavy or makeup-y. Sometimes I actually forgot that I was wearing base makeup when I used this cushion. The formula is very easy to spread too. I can press the cushion once and pat it all over my face and that would be enough.
The finish of this cushion is probably my favorite thing about it. It’s neither matte nor dewy, but like soft baby skin. It gives enough moisture without being too heavy or oily. It doesn’t cling to dry patches and doesn’t settle into wrinkles and fine lines. I feel like my skin turned into mochi. I feel like my description doesn’t make sense… Hmm… Well, this cushion makes your skin look like you naturally woke up with like that!
Longevity
The lasting power of this bb cushion is pretty good. It lasts about a good 10 hours just on its own until it starts to fade a little bit, but even then, it still looks fine. The fading was only noticeable when I looked in the mirror really close. By the end of the day, it doesn’t look oily, but as if you have naturally glowing skin. This could be different for each person though, as I have dry skin and live in a dry, arid environment.
This is my favorite cushion right now! Although it may seem expensive, you’re actually getting a pretty good deal since it comes with a refill, which is like buying two cushions, so “one” cushion would cost you around $13-20. That’s the same price as buying one of the less expensive road shop cushions! Again, I love the soft and natural finish, and the great lasting power. I’d say it’s the perfect all-around cushion that you can use for any occasion. I highly highly recommend this cushion if you ever have the chance to try it out!

Thank you for this review! I recently bought the Laneige pore cover cushion because it is one of the few cushions that has so many shades available, and a shade that perfectly matched my skin. I really like it, but it is a little too matte for my liking (even though I have combo skin that gets oily in the T-zone). I wanted something that had a more natural finish, satin-like, but not sticky/dewy that would turn into an oil slick on my face. Your review has been the ONLY review I have been able to find on this particular product in English, so thank you again!
