REVIEW | Thank You Farmer Sun Project Water Sun Cream SPF 50+ PA+++

March 02, 2017

Hello ~
Today I have a review on a sunscreen! It’s the Thank You Farmer Sun Project Water Sun Cream SPF 50+ PA+++. As many of you should know, sunscreen is one of the most important skincare products for healthy, youthful skin! My friend and I have a hobby of collecting trying out different sunscreens and seeing which ones are good and work for our skin. I’ve been wanting to try this sunscreen for a while because of the good reviews, and it seemed like it would match well with my skin type, so I just left it on a list of things I want. A few months ago when Memebox was having a sale, I got it immediately, and I just so happened to be on the last few uses of my Innisfree Eco Safety Perfect Sunblock. This sunscreen contains - of product in a squeeze tube. It costs around $20, so it’s slightly more expensive than the average road shop sunscreen.

Product Details and Claims

“A real hydrating sun cream with smoothness and hydrating moisture free of stickiness”

  • Deep hydrating as a moisturizing cream
  • Radiance and smoothness that leave after penetration
  • High sunscreen capacity without excess whitening
  • Contains natural extracts such as phyto-oligo, inca omega oil, and bamboo extracts
  • No stickiness! No whiteness! No caking!

This sunscreen has SPF 50+ and PA+++ which gives almost full UVA and UVB protection. (Recently some Korean brands have started to come out with PA++++ which weren’t available previously because of safety regulations)

This sunscreen contains both chemical and physical UV filters. It also contains alcohol and fragrance, so avoid this if you are sensitive to these ingredients. I do like that they include many plant oils/extracts and hyaluronic acid. 👍

Packaging

Just a typical sunscreen bottle. The blue color is pretty cute. The tube is easy to squeeze, and has a twist cap. I’d say it’s pretty safe for travel.

Scent

The sunscreen smells somewhat cottony and soft. The scent is not overwhelming or strong, and it fades after application.

Texture & Finish

I really love the texture of this sunscreen. It’s super smooth, light, and easy to spread. It feels like a super moisturizing emulsion and doesn’t leave you all sticky. When I’m running late I can just slap this on as a moisturizer and sun protection, and I don’t have to worry about a white cast.

What I don’t like about this is the finish. Despite my love for oils and glowing skin, this sunscreen leaves you looking and feeling super greasy after application. The oiliness starts to fade around the 3 hour mark, but I assume it would remain oily for oily skins. Of course you could use less, but you wouldn’t be getting enough sun protection. If I touched my face, my hands would be shiny. I used blotting paper to see how much oil it had, and it took 7 blotting sheets to lessen the oiliness. Furthermore, it doesn’t go well under makeup. It pills up and makes it look like you have lint on your face.

Final Thoughts

I’m pretty disappointed with this sunscreen. There are so many better (and cheaper) ones out there. Right now I’m just trying to use it all up so I can use my CosRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream (spoiler alert: this one’s a LOT better) without having to think about this one.
